"Elfdalian" is not a well-chosen term, as your initial comment shows, and hence we who work with Scandinavian syntax prefer the term "Övdalian". For two reasons, really. "Elfdalian" is also an exonym, a name of the language that is derived from the Swedish "älvdalska", which is improper because Swedish is the most severe threat against the survival of Övdalian.

Thank you for pointing this out Henrik, and thanks for reading the blog.

Is there anyone (native speaker, maybe) who can help me to preserve this language on www.tatoeba.org?

Greetings from Brazil! My name's Ricardo, I'm 29 years old and I study and teach languages. I've found this contact through Omniglot - http://www.omniglot.com/writing/elfdalian.htm and http://www.uu.se/en/about-uu/contact/

I have tried motivate people to keep their languages alive and that they study languages as well. That's why (also) I joined Tatoeba, a "a large database of sentences and translations. Its content is ever-growing and results from the voluntary contributions of thousands of members."

This project was founded by Trang Ho in 2006, hosted on Sourceforge under the codename of multilangdict and now there are 5,000,000+ sentences in 300+ languages. I'd like to add Elfdalian (Övdalsk / Övdalską) since we'd (Tatoeba and I) like to preserve and study languages as well but we would need sentences and translations - http://en.wiki.tatoeba.org/articles/show/new-language-request# -. Would you mind helping us?

Please, let me know if you need something.

Best wishes,
