The Wonder of Whiffling is a new book by Adam Jacot de Boinod on interesting slang and regional English words, old and new. Scottish slang includes yule-hole (the last hole to which a Scotsman can stretch his belt after Christmas dinner), flodge (an awkward, overweight person) and maulifuff (a young woman who fusses around busily but achieves little).
Yorkshire words include crambazzled (prematurely aged through alcohol) and stridewallop (a tall and awkward woman). Words from outside of the UK are included. Zoo daddy is a US term for a divorced father who takes his children to the zoo on the days he sees them and twack is a Newfoundland word for shoppers who touch goods, ask about them, but don't buy anything.
More words in this Scotsman article, and this article from the Hindustan Times.
