Most people hate their bosses using clichés, according to a recently published survey, although some bosses hate their employees' use of hackneyed phrases too. The most common cliché is 'at the end of the day', said about three times a day in most offices, according to a survey carried out by the equestrian charity the Brooke (I'm not sure why they wanted to know!). Here's the full list:
At the end of the day
What goes around, comes around
It's not rocket science
Thinking outside the box
Flogging a dead horse
Don't shoot the messenger
Going forward
By the close of play
Give you the heads up
Live and learn
C'est la vie
Don't put all your eggs in one basket
Hit the ground running
Always look on the bright side of life
Suck it and see
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth
Don't worry, be happy
I know it's a big ask
I'm out
There are no flies on me
And here's the story.
