Aunt Sally has persisted, at least in and around Oxford, as a pub game in which the sticks are lobbed at a vaguely doll-like figure called the dolly, aiming to knock it off a metal prongy thing. Like all sports it has developed an arcane vocabulary and complicated rules, and there are competitions and leagues, and serious players have sets of expensive sticks to chuck. And, of course, you have to buy your round.
